Heart of God Ministries News World Pioneer Conference On the weekend of March 26-28, 2004 over 200 students from around the world gathered in central Oklahoma for a weekend of passionate worship, intense prayer and seeking the face of Jesus Christ. It was a wonderful group of young people that came to surrender. They came to go to the nations. This conference has been one of our most strategic events in mobilizing missionaries to go the unreached. 75% of our last boot camp class credited the annual conference as a major influence in their missions call. Laborers HGM now has 32 missionaries spread from the furthest point in West Africa to Indonesia. We have trained 60 people through Beautiful Feet Boot Camp, all but a few of which are currently serving on the mission field, either through us or with other agencies. Our last two classes, Class 7 and 8, have graduated 15 more missionaries. God is blessing and He is answering our prayers for more laborers to go into the harvest fields! Mexican Boot Camp For several years we have been planning and seeking the Lord’s direction for the opening of a Mexican version of Beautiful Feet Boot Camp. We are so pleased to announce that it will open August 30th and begin training Mexican Christians to go as missionaries to the unreached. Our last Boot Camp class included Raul Gomez, Daniel Cavazos, Mary Albertson and Gerrie Ferrar who will be the leadership for the Mexico Boot Camp. They went through the entire Boot Camp, in order to experience it first hand and then replicate it for Mexican students. Gerrie, who is 74 years old, even participated in daily Physical Training. Upon completion of the first Mexican class, Mary and Gerrie will be heading to North India, where God has called them to minister to the Tibetans. Orphan Care Training Every 14 seconds, a child loses his/her parents to AIDS. India is bracing itself for an expected 35 million orphans by the year 2005! We recently held our first class for orphan care training. We are so grateful for Lucretia Smithers, who is the Director of this new program. This training includes the basic five-months of boot camp, plus an extra month for specific training in caring for the needs of orphans—abandoned children, street children, AIDS victims, etc. The needs of the orphans present an urgent crisis in our world today, and it is our goal to have at least one person on every church-planting team, who has been trained to care for orphans. (Please see the ad on page 15.) Adopt a People Cornerstone Community Church and Bethesda Worship Center in Sheridan, Wyoming, have together adopted the Amdo Tibetans and our team of missionaries working among them. It has been exciting to watch these two churches grow in their vision and commitment to the unreached over the last few years, as they held special mission services and then an intensive Perspectives on the World Christian Movement class. Upon completion of the class, they decided to put their knowledge to action by adopting a people group. Adoption means that they will invest in prayer, finances, short-term prayer journeys and eventually long-term missionaries to join the team there—whatever it takes to see the Amdo given the Gospel. What a wonderful example of following Jesus to the unreached peoples! New Staff Members We are pleased to welcome Matthew Allen to our Moblization and HGM Publishing departments. Matt is primarily helping in the creation of publications and videos. Watch for an upcoming HGM promotional video! Mark Bahr is an addition to our Mission Division staff. He is a biblical languages scholar and has begun training our missionaries in Bible Translation and linguistics. Jessica Linenberger is serving as Assistant to the Director of Mobilization, and she coordinates the efforts of the Mobilization Department. We are also grateful for the addition of a new Field Director. This missionary couple need to remain nameless, as they are stationed in a closed country. He is serving HGM missionaries by coaching their church planting efforts and providing pastoral care. He is strategically located where he can frequently visit the different teams. Passion por el Corazon de Dios The Spanish edition of Passion for the Heart of God has recently been released. We are thrilled with how God brought about the translation and printing of this book. It is being distributed widely in Mexico. You can pray with us that it will have great impact in calling the Mexican Church to respond to God’s call to take the Gospel to the unreached.
