Millions of Cambodians died at the hands of Khmer Rouge fighters between
1975 and 1990, but this suffering
opened hearts to the message of God’s love. Since 1990, the 200 believers that were meeting in 12 house churches have become 100,000 believers in 800 to 1,000 congregations! Shout to the Lord for the explosive growth of the church in Cambodia!
A Christian worker in a “closed” country left 250 believers and three churches in the area. When he returned seven months later, the worker found more than 4,000 new believers and 280 churches!
At the first preaching of the Gospel in a village in Southern Asia, the village chief said: “I consulted a sorcerer to gain goodwill in my family. He performed some religious rituals in my house and said that if I sacrificed three small children before the moon came up on a full-moon night, prosperity would never leave my home. I obeyed his words and kidnapped two 5-year-old boys from a neighboring village, and I sacrificed them to the gods. But I failed in my attempts at kidnapping the third child. Finally, I took my own 7-year-old son and sacrificed him. If you had told me about this Jesus a little earlier, then I would have never killed those innocent children. Why did you come so late?”
Each citizen of the United States receives an average of 200 evangelistic offers each year, and yet among the unreached there are over 2 billion people that have never heard of Jesus once. The cost for every person baptized in the U.S. is estimated at more than $1.5 million! An estimated 530,000 ministers and 21,584 missionaries serve in the United States, compared to only about 40,000 U.S. citizens serving overseas as long-term missionaries. Of that, only 8 to 10 percent serve among the unreached peoples. That means there is only one missionary for every half million people among the not yet reached! Pray that the Lord will raise up laborers, so that all the peoples of this world will have an opportunity to worship Him!
